Kelowna Film Studios opened its doors on September 6, 2022, with a launch party on October 20, 2022. The general public was invited to view the new facility and a number of news corporations produced videos and articles of the event. Here is a celebration of our grand opening.

The Kelowna film production scene has one more thing to boast about.

A new studio.

For creative director, and filmmaker James Alton, the opening of Kelowna Film Studios is the culmination of a mission he first envisioned 5 years ago.

Today, the 3,200 sq. ft. space on Kelowna's Keehn Road is officially open.

The Okanagan’s film industry has been steadily growing over the past few years and now they have a new place to shoot productions in the valley. A new Kelowna, B.C., film studio has opened its doors.

After only acquiring the property on July 1st, Kelowna Film Studios is ready for action.

“We have not just a sound stage here but we built this in mind that you can shoot anywhere you look. We wanted it to be Kelowna’s kind of everything, how can you get the production level up and still attract a lot of people in here,” said Kelowna Film Studios general manager, Ethann Hartwell.

Kelowna 10

A new film studio in the city promises to pave the way for bigger and better movies and commercials to be shot in Kelowna.

Kelowna Film Studios is the only sound stage currently operating in the city and for founder and creative director, James Alton, this has been years in the making.

“Ever since I moved to Kelowna from Toronto, I’ve known that Kelowna has needed a film studio, it’s the only thing filmmakers talk about,” Alton told Kelowna10. “I’m a person that likes to do things, I don’t like to just sit around and talk about it, so I found the right people and that’s how we’re here today.”
